For those that are still having exams, keep it up! there is only a week before we all take a long break from studying. For those that have finished their exams, GREAT! get some rest and its time to go back home and spend good quality time while you still have it.

For Sam and I, both owners of RDC are extremly happy that we finally leave NUS to venture to the outside world. Red Dot Cafe will still be around next semester and many more so do not worry if there won't be good cakes, brownies, milkshakes and coffee around.

Red Dot Cafe last day of operations will be 7th May 2008 (Wednesday). Hopefully our inventory will be cleared by then, if not there will be a mega sale! We should be starting back RDC on 1st week Sem 1, Academic year 08/09

Much has happen throughout RDC 7 months here in PGPR, from October 15th 2007 - May 7th 2008. I think we ought to do a reflection of what this 7 months have been for Sam, I and the current excellent team of Barista's.

Feb 15, 3 months RDC have been serving the PGPR Community (not counting Dec since we took the entire month off). 3 months might seem like a short time, but alot has changed in the cafe. We have new barista's and a new cafe outlook. Our food got better and so did the number of customers. Thank you all for your great support at RDC! We still left with 3 more months of having you wonderful customers before we break at May 15 2008 for the Summer break.

We still have many events and new items planned for you for the current semester. Right now we are still having our Couple T-shirt promo, come take a look at the cool designs. Upcoming events will be the live bands and also pool competition. We are also thinking of the idea of further decorating the cafe to make it more "happening" feel.

Come, leave any ideas and suggestion to us!

Time flies isn't it. Now its the year of the rat, we have finished jan 2008 and now in the mid feb. Valentine Day is around the corner. Projects and CA's are coming since there is only 2 more weeks to go before mid semester break. CNY is just over but the festivity spirit still lingers inside. HAHA. Well life as a student is surely predictable but still exciting of course.

Besides running a cafe, i am also a full time Year 4 Undergraduate Engineering Student. My interim report and presentation is due this Tuesday. That is why the lack of posting for now and the next few days.

what else..humm let us know! anyways why is there no board games like monopoly, scrabble, risk n etc. Well if you want them let us know, but isn't it time to try something new :)

Extension of Operating hours

yesterday night stayed until 5am doing the lighting wiring and curtains railings. The 8 armchair came today. most of the cafe layout is almost done, except some more lighting wirings. The RDC classic menu is finally up! we have been testing it ourselves and we certainly like what we have produced.

We are going to trial extending our operating hours. RDC will now operate 9am - 11pm. Yupes serving your breakfast! A good breakfast is a good way to start your day! Why we do not open earlier, like 7am? well as students ourselves we know that no "hardworking" students will wake up so early for breakfast. Besides, if you have 8am class, you will be RUSHIING to class and have no time to sit down and enjoy a good cuppa. 9am is best, serving the 10am class crowd and those that don't have morning classes crowd

I'll go back writing RDC Recipe Book. We have improved on our ice blended drinks and going to add new drinks recipe inside.

8 Great Things at RDC Last Semester

Dear Friends,

Its been a great experience starting and operating Red Dot Cafe (RDC). The ride was full of up's and down's but we manage and are here to stay. To sum it up, let me bring you 9 reasons why RDC has been great for us

1) Starting RDC from nothing to something
Early August we secured a place to do business but we had no idea what to sell. Around end of august and after much discussion and survey we decided to run a cafe, a place where PGP residents can come relax and catch up with friends. So September and October was the month of going out each day to look for stuffs and searching suppliers. We also had to research and test each item, to see if it will make you crave for it. Countless of time we ended up at the toilet because too much coffee is bad for your bowel! Oct 15, RDC open it's door serving you after 2.5 months of planning it

2) Best and diverse Barista Team
Each Barista comes from different parts of the world. But they are all there for one reason, is to serve you good coffee. RDC would like to thank Susan, Tiang, Rafi, Saffiyah, Lochani, Trang, Scast, Sandeep, Premesha for being a great team together. Special thanks to Khimpy and Yaying for your support =) The Barista's are RDC's best asset and we are glad that most of you will be back next semester.

3) Getting to know the regular customers
We wouldn't have survive without these group of regular customers. RDC would like to thank you for coming back to the cafe. Each time you are back, it's a satisfaction because we know that we have served you well previously. But the fun of it, is everytime they come back for the usual drinks or food. It's like "hello, welcome back! the usual for you today?" Most of the barista can exactly remember what will they ask for and how they want it made. In case you do not know, our popular drinks are cafe mocha, chocolate milkshake and food is toasted sandwich and brownie with ice cream

4) Cool Band Performance
Rather than just doing daily business, we realize that it is important to bring in some extra events to make the place livelier. Thats what "the basement" did. The band performance was great and guests enjoyed the singing. I must say, things change ever since the band came. People knew more about the cafe and sales partially went up too. be on the lookout for more events from RDC

5) Keep changing and adding the menu
What came and left us the past semester:
The stuff that left us - Burrito, Ciabatta/Foccacia sandwichs, Strawberry freeze, peach ring
The stuff that came to us - hotdogs, oreo milkshake, apple pie, brownie, muffin.......

Items come and go depending on how much you like it. But as you can see, we brought in more items than removing them. A lot of the recipe change throughout the semester and is still changing today. The only thing that is bugging us is getting the right ice blended recipe (still in process). Thank you all for your feedbacks and that is how we learn if we are making it right and tasty. New menu and our new subunit, RDC Classic menu will be out sometime this week!

6) Meeting suppliers for free samples!
This may sound cheapskate, but hey free samples is good! Sometimes we can even make a free meal out of it. But only with these samples we know if the product is able to sell or just wasting selling space. Singapore economy must be very good, or they badly want your business. Usually they will give huge samples and almost everything they have for you to try. Anyways, its free so suppliers if you do read this blog, keep you samples coming!

7) Increasing sales and growth
After dumping in a large sum of $$, at least we know we did park it correctly and its growing. Years of savings and hard earned part time money went into RDC. We are indeed happy that we didn't make a loss last term, but we made a profit! How much?! 2 figure PROFIT! Lets hope that next semester we will be able to make more to upgrade some of the machinery that we have. Better investment to appliances will bring you faster and better quality food and drinks

8) Friends
Dear friends, thank you for all the encouragements and feedbacks that you have been giving us. Also thank you for bringing your friends to show support for RDC. The best customers are of course your friends. They give you the most honest opinion on everything (although most of the time you say everything is good =)

Of course this blog has been great for us. It is here that we post what we do at the cafe and inform you what is happening at the cafe. It is also the place where we can do survey's but the only purpose is sharing our experience at RDC to you. Thank you for always coming back to the blog and reading it =)

RDC will be opening on the 14th Jan. Hopefully next semester we will be able to have many more great things to write about RDC. We will be undergoing mini renovations from wed-sun. If you are free come and drop by and see the enhancements that we are adding in

Things we have done for the week

What we have done (or tried doing) this week =)

1. Revive back the blog! yes after months of no news nothing. we will utilise this website to alert you more what is happening at the cafe and PGPR. Survey at the side, help us out!

2. Sending out applications to old and new barista's. Its great to have everyone back for the next semester! (Dear Barista's, thank you for staying with us) The management will consider a retreat for you, but let u guys to plan it out. We will discuss this more in our meetings, ok!

3. Went shopping to enhance the cafe atmosphere. After your kind feedback that we received, we are investing more to make it better. Burn over $1000 just today shopping for furnitures, lighting n etc. Haha keep on the lookout!

4. Planning for extension unit for Red Dot Cafe (RDC). Currently we will expand into 2 unit, RDC Classics and RDC Entertainment. Be on a look out for future details.

RDC wishes all of you HAPPY New Year 2008!!!

At RDC, we are all back to prepare for our 2nd semester here at PGPR. Been going shopping lately. Remember we did a survey sometime back mid last semester. Most of you commented that the ambiance of the cafe should be improved. Hence, we have been out shopping for new sofa's and better lighting for the entire cafe. Be on the lookout sometime next week when we undergo some minor layout changes. Here are some photo clips from places we went around.

Expensive stuffs but we will invest and build it to make it more comfortable to you. Btw, the application for barista sem 2 is closed now. Thank you for all that have shown interest to work!

Red Dot is currently on vacation as some of you might have seen. No worries we will be back open on the 12th of Jan (Saturday) Right now most of us are just having a good vacation back home but there are still much to do for the cafe. Where's Red Dot Cafe?

Opps! I just realised that we did not state clearly where Red Dot Cafe is. Thanks to RDC Gatherer who pointed this out to us. =D

Red Dot Cafe is situated in Prince George's Park Residences, at the first floor (second level) of the Foodgle Hub the air-conditioned foodcourt. You will notice the cafe, as you look up from the foodcourt, with our red signboard and brownish-satin organza curtains. Also, if you happen to alight from the bus at the main foyer of PGPR, go down the steps, and you will see Red Dot Cafe on your right hand side.

Both A1 and A2 buses will be able to take you to PGPR. =)

And also, I would like to apologize for the lack of posts, been busy preparing for examinations as well. Woo Hoo.. I'm gonna go and get myself a cup of Irish Cream latte to keep myself awake!

Chill. Listen. Live. was a complete success! There was a huge crowd, the band was superb and the Red Dot Crew were so busy, we were like bumble bees buzzing around the entire night! It was really a successful event, we had a lot of friends coming to support the event and also the band had their group of friends to come and watch them too!

=D Okay shall not talk too much. Haha PICTURES!

They sang really well!!! I was literally skipping while serving the drinks. But of course, I never spill any drinks! Nor broken anything!

The crowd's favourite for the night. Chocolate brownies! Best served with one scoop of vanilla ice cream. My verdict? HEAVENLY! It was sold out by 9pm!

The people who gave us immense support(measured in wavelengths... if you wanna know, the microwave wavelength! hahaha.) thank you guys. =D

The Managers and From the Basement

The night left us all feeling mind-boggled. It got the crew recharged, especially those who worked on that day, we felt a sense of accomplishment. We couldn't even put a finger to it, to express exactly how happy we felt actually. Now we are looking forward to having more band performances next semester!

As for now, I guess everyone is highly stressed out mugging for finals. Please do take great care of your health, if you feel sleepy, come and grab your energy boost from Red Dot Cafe! Energy boost not meaning RedBull but your favourite cuppa! *wink*

We are Expanding Our Food Menu

Ahhh.. Finally. The Red Dot managers have finally decided on a list of food to be added onto our menu, as the current food on the menu is not enough to satisfy our customers' constant hungry pangs. Haha! Hence, we are bringing in....*drums roll*

1) Brownies! Piping hot chocolate fudge brownies.. drowned with chocolate sauce.. *slurp*
2) Muffins! Freshly baked hot muffins to go with your favourite cuppa.
3) Our specialty soup served with baguette. Not your usual corn/mushroom chicken soup. We have a list to decide on, such as clam chowder, pumpkin and etc. Sounds good eh?
4) Croissant sandwich with tuna
5) Cinnamon roll
6) Kaya and butter served on baguette (the managers are pretty skeptical about this so we are gonna try out the recipe, if it's good, you'll see it at the cafe!)

As for drinks, we are introducing smoothies and non-coffee blended drinks. Malibu fruit blended sounds good eh?

Also, Red Dot Cafe too wanna thank the Malaysian Student League (MSL) for their generous contribution. MSL gave Red Dot Cafe a new microwave oven!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Which is also why now we are able to add in more food into the menu, all thanks to the newest hired employee, the microwave! =D

We might be having a band to perform at the cafe soon(thank you Allen for your help =) ), such as to help our dear PGP residents to destress with the upcoming final examinations and the never-ending assignments to be handed in before the closure of the semester.

Till then, do take care and drop by at the cafe and have a cuppa with us!

p/s: The managers would like to thank all fellow customers and friends who have been constantly on the look-out for us, generating publicity on our behalf and helping us in expanding our menu. Red Dot Cafe's New Look!

Hi everyone!

Red Dot Cafe has a new look! The cafe now looks warmer, cosier and it's definitely a better place to hang out with your friends! Also, since exam time is coming soon, you are also welcome to bring your book down and do your readings here while the coffee aroma relaxes your mind and soul.

Another good news is, our cakes have been the best seller of the cafe. We initially started out with 2 cakes a day, but we realise the cakes all get sold out very soon. We bring in the cakes every 3 days and it's not enough, definitely. Hence today we are bringing in 3 cakes! Belgium chocolate cake has been our best seller, we are definitely bringing it in again. We are also trying a new recipe today, the mango cheesecake. =) ahhh as I am blogging I can feel my saliva ducts salivating already.

Anyways, come check us out today yah! Take a break from studying, come have a cup of coffee with us, or better still, bring your books down and have cups of coffee with us! =D

New Food Item Coming soon, will be trial launch on Wednesday 6pm-11pm to see the response. So far we have been randomly getting feedback for it, and its good! Our burrito's are in the range of 3 dollars. Our promotional sandwich is at 2 dollars.This new food item is priced in the 1-2 dollars range.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your support for red dot this week. Business was slow but still it has been great serving you. We were constantly updating our drinks menu and adding new food into the cafe. Do come drop by for the sandwiches. They are really good as our customers feedback. Rest assured that we only get our supplies from halal certified distributors.

Thank you for your feedbacks! we now serve strawberry milkshake with real strawberries inside. The banana milkshake recipe ingredient was revised and we are putting more good stuffs in it. Our sandwiches comes in 5 flavours like Chicken Mayo, Ham n Cheese, vege, Mango Surimi Crab and tuna. The best sellings ones are chicken mayo and ham&cheese. Selling at a promotional price and did we mention we use wholemeal bread? Just something red dot does to make sure you eat healthily.

The Red Blend (aka Ice Blended or Frappe) has also been revised. we added new stuffs into it, and came our with our very own blend which we label it as "ingredient X". haha not even our staffs know whats in it as it is specially prepared by the managers. Rest assured no harmful and fully organic materials inside! =)

Allright! week one over. here comes week 2. We have extended our operating time to 12-2pm and 6-11pm. Weekends are still 9am-11pm. We will be launching a new food this coming week. Stay tuned!

We Have New Drinks, New Foosball Table, New Pool Table!

Hi guys!

The Red Dot crew have been busy with the cafe and so therefore the lack of updates! But that also means good news, because you guys have been coming to support us every night and that keeps us busy!

We have been trying to improvise our food and drinks recipe through feedbacks we receive from fellow customers and it keeps getting better! Also, if you did notice, our ambience wasn't very conducive or cafe-like because of the problems we had with the pendaflour lights! So we figured out a way to make the cafe more cozy and voila! Now you can all come and chill at the cafe, good food, good drinks, good ambience, plus good company (and with this I mean, it doesn't matter whether you come down with or without friends, you can always count on our crew to cheer you up)! What else can you ask for, when you need to chill out after the horrible midterm week NUS throws at you rite?

And so, I shall not be a long-winded storyteller, allow me to feed you with some illustrations. =D

See where the laptop is? That's where the little elf sits at the corner and updates the blog! HAH! No, actually it's just where yours truly was able to find a powerpoint to charge her lappy and hence, the positioning of the laptop.

We have also added 3 new items into our menu! We now serve steamed milk, cold milk and also, iced black coffee! We are looking into adding more food into our menu. We are open to suggestions so feel free to drop us a comment on what else you want to buy and eat from Red Dot Cafe!

And also, look out for our launch on the 1st of November! More details will be posted up soon yah! We also received questions from fellow customers, about our operation time. Currently, the latest we can be open is till 11pm.

For the time being, our operation testing period is from 6pm till 11pm. Whilst on the weekends, it's from 9am till 11pm.

Thank you for supporting Red Dot for the past few days. It has been a great because what we have planned has finally been realized. Although, the cafe atmoshphere is not up to par at the moment, we will continue to work to create a better ambiance for you and your friends to hang out.

hi there,

The past few days we have been rushing on setting up the cafe.

To sum up what happen the past few days, its because of Murphy's Law

Murphy's Law broadly states that things will go wrong in any given situation, if you give them a chance. I haven't slept since thursday. Now will catch a short nap before waking up to get some goods delivery. For the past hours i feel like i am Jack Bauer from TV series 24. He has all the fun chasing terrorist and saving the world, i have the fun of chasing suppliers and making last minute shopping! Haha at least we are doing a good thing for everyone out there!

As the date draws near so is the completion of cafe preparation. Most of the stuffs are done except the world map and signboard ><

Lets tell you more about us, FOOD MENU part 1! Something special, something new,

Presenting.......................................................
The flatbread sandwich! Also well known as Burrito (shown in the picture is the crispy chicken burrito). Red dot is bringing you the Mexican flavour to PGPR. So whats inside a burrito? usually fresh vegetables like lettuce and tomatoes, top with the main stuff which is meat! then smack it with mayo and salsa sauce! Besides these, we can put potatoes like wedges, cheese slices or perhaps rice too! We will slowly introduce burrito because having trouble finding the tortilla wrap. Damm! anyone knows where i can get 10inch or 12 inch tortilla's? heck, we will name a burrito after you! =)

Anyone wants to be healthier? Introducing the foccacia sandwiches. Ohh, besides foccacia we will be using many other breads later like full-grain, ciabatta, bagel and many other types of bread. But...one at a time we won't be doing so much at start. Operational testing!

Its time to savor the many kinds of bread out there than our usual white bread we get from Nanyang mart or supermarkets. Same like our coffee too, beans from around the world and not only nescafe 3in1. Ohh, besides selling such "premium" breads we will also bring you delicious sandwiches. Wholemeal please! we want you to eat healthy!

All of the food above will come in a Set meal too. A side and drink. Not sure what sides to put, we are thinking of either wedges or nachos. Let us know which of these 2 you prefer. The chatterbox on the right is all for you to post anything.

Allright, sorry for not posting yesterday. We were busy Ikea-ing, haha looking for stuffs to deco the place. Allright, food menu part 2 soon which is the sweet delights!

Super Boss!!!

yupes! its me the Super Boss! (aka Super Bear). Its easy to recognize me because of the large "B" letter at my strong chest. Who's the boss? Me the super boss! LOL btw i have nothing to do with super snack. But im still a Super Bear!

Ok enough with showing the cute bear. Red Dot started from 2 friends "kawan" that have known each other since they were freshman at PGPR. If you have read the earlier post, we are both from engineering and in our finals years here. Since we will say goodbye to this place soon, we wanted to do something here before we leave. We have stayed here long enough to understand how PGPR is like. Although there are 2800 residents here, but somehow it is a lonely place by itself. We have so many people from around the world, yet the groups that we mix is mostly our friends from our own country. Red Dot hopes that by having a place and fun events, we can increase your network to the entire world! (sounds like a super dream)

The countdown timer is ticking fast. Less than a week more to go!

Training Today!

Well, as the title said so, we had our first pioneer batch of baristas' training today. Training started slightly after 9.30am in the morning, with sunshine shining through our cafe. We had a total of 8 crews in training today, including the manager and the assistant managers.

Our crew is really quite diversified, we have 2 from Sri Lanka, 1 from China, 1 from Pakistan and 4 from Malaysia! We were all briefed on the basics of running a cafe, did a little role playing and the discussion was very fruitful!

Everyone seemed to be pretty excited anticipating the opening of the cafe. =D

Why red dot? Why red dot?! I know we earlier describe Red Dot means connecting point for people around the world. But there is actually more behind it.

This is one of them......................

yes we are all at Singapore now, a tiny small island surrounded by its huge neighbors. So small that it is listed as one of the 20 smallest countries in the world! Imagine looking at the world map, would you be able to spot it easily?

"The term "little red dot" has come to be used by both Singaporean politicians and ordinary citizens with pride and with a sense of the nation's success despite its physical limitations."

Yupes that is what we hope too achieve too at Red Dot. Although we are surrounded by 2 large canteens (ac & non-ac), 1 cafe (Kgourmet) and 1 food/snack (Super Snack), we hope that Red Dot will be a place of success just like small, tiny, little Singapore ! Besides, providing you with satisfying coffee and food we hope it will be a great place for you to hangout and make friends from around the world.

Yes, this is how Red Dot looks like today. We are still building the kitchen counter and doing some painting works. As mentioned earlier, the color for Red Dot is Black, White & Red. See the black display fridge over there? Haha, nice cheese cakes coming your way and many many yummy stuffs. If you still don't know where is Red Dot, it is at the Aircon canteen, the upstairs level at the door near to the foyer. You can see from the picture the beautiful foyer and plaza of PGPR. Thats is why we name our place Red Dot, the connecting point for everyone that stays in PGPR, and the connection place for all the people from around the world and local students.

Drinks update. We have created yummy milkshakes and Coffee blended drinks. Will upload the menu and pricing sometime in this few days. The espresso drinks are still abit tricky. The milk that we are using is making the drink taste weird although it comes from Australia (Farmhouse ). Will try out other brand of milk that is available out there. So far we have been randomly selecting our friends to come test for our coffee. Special thanks to those that gave us feedback for us to improve on the quality of the drinks =)

Can't believe time is running out and so many things yet to do. But not too much to worry, as our great advisor always say " Begin slowly and don't rush. Start small and grow at a pace". So dear future customers of ours, our menu will slowly grow from time to time. Perhaps we will only introduce half of the menu we initially planned. Your feedback is our success =)

kind of very excited about things. In 2 weeks time we will be running a cafe! (the countdown timer is there, we open our doors at 15 Oct, 7.30am!) alot of things are not fully completed yet, and those blardy CA's just keep on coming!Time Management is the key! when is work is work! when is study is study! Today went out to the furniture mall to shop for comfortable sofa's. Bought a sofa that is black n red to suit the theme of the cafe. Came back, rested and catch up on school work because 2nd half of school starts tomorrow.

Just tried a few coffee recipe of our own. I bet you will love our Mocha Coffee Blended. Taste so good and chocolaty! Tomorrow we will finishing the painting work (LOL!) and the kitchen counter setup. nitez!

The Red Crew Learnt Something Today

The purpose of us setting up this blog, is not only to publicize our cafe, but also to share with you all how we go about setting up the cafe and get the business running. We wanted to share with our fellow friends and future customers, how sincere we were in running this place, and to show that we really did put in a lot of effort to make this happen.

And so.. it was our second attempt to paint our cafe. Well, not exactly the entire cafe, but there were little corners and display counter that needed to be painted. We spray painted two display boards on Thursday, however, the colour looked pretty uneven on the board. The surface of the boards, however were shiny and we actually liked the finishing of it, it's just that the colour weren't even. A fellow friend even commented that it looked rather professionally done, and we beamed at that comment. So we waited for both the display boards to dry up, and continued our painting and setting up our furniture mission today.

We thought that we should abort the spray paint idea, and so being as amateur as we are, we bought a can of those typical glossy wet paint from a neighbourhood shop. And we also bought a roller, those furry furry kind. And when our Miss Designer laid the roller onto the board, all 3 of us, held our breath in anticipation, hopeful that the paint will actually turn out the way we wanted it to.

But no.. the finishing looked rough, the board actually looked like it was a wall with red paint on. It was almost disastrous. We borrowed thinner from the renovation uncle who was working downstairs, and we tried cleaning the paint off to try again. One of us, even had bloodied looking hands because we had to clean off the paint with thinner. The thinner was stinging his hands too, and we joked that he should go and tell people his hands got butchered. Haha!

It was the third try on the board, and we were almost demoralized by the way the paint was working. It was almost upsetting because you have 2 engineer undergraduates, and one life science major, and non of us could figure out the right way to get the paint done. Until, our saviour uncle appeared at the stair case! He saw the looks on our face, and asked how we were doing. We explained how difficult was it for us to actually get the finishing product that we want, and he being a kind man he is, advised on what brush we should get and how to get the finishing that we want..

Uncle too noticed the look on one of us, and he said,

"年轻人，不要灰心。"
“Young man, don't be disappointed. It's okay, the paint will work out fine."

At that point, it was quite comforting to hear such words from someone who's more experienced, who's willing to teach us, who's not selfish to share with us.

Our take home message, from our evening of painting, we concluded that, being university students doesn't mean that we know everything in the world. No matter how much chemistry we have studied, no matter how many As we have scored in our examinations, the most important thing is knowing how to apply our knowledge and having the right attitude with the right mind.

It was just a brief encounter with uncle, that managed to lighten us up from the small little obstacle we came across in our efforts of making this cafe a success.

=) I hope I didn't bore you all with our little story here. The red crew is now working on perfecting our drinks!

Why Red Dot Cafe Some May Ask

As you can see from the map above (I know, bad photoshop skills hehe sorry!), there's a red dot. That red dot indicates our very own Red Dot Cafe situated right here, in the heart of Singapore, on the National University of Singapore residency campus.

And around the little red dot, you see a lot of blue dots as well as orange dots. The orange dots indicates the country of origin of our staffs, while the blue dots indicates the international students from different countries in the world, all connected to one place, Red Dot Cafe. The yellow lines connects all the dots together =)

Ahh, I hope I explained well the core reason why we name the place Red Dot Cafe. =) And of course, we welcome comments from you guys, on how to improve the place and how to enhance this concept of ours.

Drinks Menu Part 3 (Final)

Hi all,

to continue our drinks menu introduction, here are drinks that you like cold (SG weather is too warm) but not blended.

Ice Cold Coffee. Coffee....Some like it hot, some like it cold. If you like it cold we top you drinks with ice to bring down the temperature while keeping the same old flavour.

If you fancy something else that doesn't have so much ice, we have..................

Iced Coffee with Ice Cream aka Coffee Float . Coffee with ice cream, great combo by itself. Sweet and refreshing cold. Was inspired by one of the local cafe that have this.

Well if you don't like coffee (why do you not like coffee??) we have something else for you

The non-coffee menu =)

Hot chocolate. Inspired by the local Milo Dinosour, this drink made from premium cocoa into a delicious sweet drink and finish with good amount of cocoa powder.

Twinings Tea. With their 300 years of rich tea making history, no wonder some say this are the best tea's you can get . Do try their various classic tea like English Breakfast or Early grey. If you prefer a different flavour we will also have fruit teas (flavoured tea's)

So that pretty wraps up the soft introduction of our drinks menu. Next will be the food menu. Stay tuned on that.

Sorry for the late update. Ikea arrived today and we were busy assembling all the stuffs and went out to chinatown to get the drinks blender. Haha with blender this is what we will make...

Milkshakes..Good quality ice creams blended with real fruits! A banana milkshake will have a banana in it, a strawberry milkshake will have real strawberry in it!

Ice Blended Drinks! Ahh the best drink on a warm day. Comes with a variety of flavour and topped with whipped cream.

Red Dot Drinks Menu Part 1

So you have heard of red dot is coming to our PGP, but do you actually know what we going to sell?

Here we have a soft introduction to our drinks menu

The mother of all drinks Espresso! with this we turn your drinks into other great drinks!

Cafe Latte. Great introductory drink, the coffee is softened with milk and it is topped by just a whisper of foam. Very approachable, perfect for non-coffee drinkers who prefer mild coffee taste and warm sweet milk.

Latte art will be introduced later part, as we need time to train new barista's.

Cafe Mocha. Milk, Coffee and Chocolate. Perfect combination that will get you hooked and stay hooked.

Ahh the famous Cafe Cappuccino. Inside is espresso mixed with steamed milk and top with milk foam. At Red Dot, we will do the finishing with rich premium cocoa powder.

Mid Semester Break

Finally the break that we have all been waiting for, MID-Sem break! has anyone notice the past 6 weeks of school zoom past so quickly?? all those CA's and projects are going to be due soon. damm...

We went out shopping this morning. IKEA! yupes finally decided on the layout and kitchen designs. I must say thank god for Ikea! All the stuffs there are reasonable and there are too many mix n match combo's that you can come out with. And the as-it corner does have good bargains. All the furniture should arrived at the canteen this coming thursday afternoon. Soon, you will see us working hard to decorate the place and create the best ambiance for you. The color that we have choose for Red Dot Cafe will be black, red and white! why we choose these colors, and why it is called red dot, i'll explain to you soon =) there is always a reason behind it.

The red dot crews will be taking a break from now till Thursday when Ikea delivers the orders.

Last week, when our coffee machines arrived from Italy, we celebrated the joyous occasion with the Mid Autumn festival held in our very residence, home and birthplace of Red Dot Cafe.

The left side of the picture is where our outdoor patio is. Ambience is very nice and soothing, because you could hear the water splashing at the fountain. Very good feng shui some says!!

Where all Cafe begins...

Last week was a busy week for us. Finally, the coffee machine arrived from ITALY! a few hiccups and delays caused it to be delivered a week late. Nevermind about it now, it is sitting comfortably at a corner in my room.

Presenting to you! the Rancilio Silvia & Rocky!! and the cute little red dot tamper! (aka. the thing you use to press your coffee)

(I know the picture sucks, don't have a proper camera with me now)

Tried a few shots of espresso with it. Tasted like a pro shot! Hopefully this machine will serve all of you well. With this, the barista's can make quality cafe espresso, latte, cappuccino, mocha and the list continues...

Still in its trial period, we are working on this machine to produce the best coffee for you. Been trying a few recipes but none that we really like. Suffering from overdose of caffeine just to keep on testing.......

Seriously, any volunteers (white mice) out there?

What else we have here?
All the coffee accessories to make the perfect cup. We use Patra Porcelein cups that will bring enjoyment to another level and the Da Vinci Syrup to make your coffee flavorful.
